Engine Options
Getting the right amount of power under the hood is important. While we're excited about both available engine options in the Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty, we know you may have your preferences. Powertrain options include:
- 6.6-liter V8 Gas Engine, delivering 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque and pairing with a six-speed automatic transmission
- Duramax® 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel V8, delivering 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque and pairing with an Allison® 10-speed automatic transmission
The gas engine is perfect if you prefer gas-powered engines and aren't looking to tow the heaviest truck loads. Diesel engines also require different fuel types and may need more unique services than your typical gas-powered engine. Opting for the Turbo Diesel configuration gives you the most power and allows you to tow more.
Performance
Speaking of towing, the Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty trucks can simplify the towing experience with robust drivetrain options and impressive capability. When equipped with the right towing package, the Chevy Silverado 2500HD can tow a maximum of 18,510 pounds. Choosing the Chevy Silverado 3500HD improves the towing capacity to 17,370 with the gas engine and 36,000 pounds maximum with the Duramax® Turbo Diesel.

The Silverado Heavy Duty trucks are more than just work vehicles. They offer a range of features and amenities you'll want for all your adventures. The available Multi-Flex tailgate offers six different functions designed to help you load and unload from your cargo bed. The Durabed cargo bed offers more cargo volume than any competitor, featuring 12 standard tie-downs and available LED cargo area lighting.
